I don't think anyone quite knows where they are before this World Cup for all manner of reasons.

I think the legacy, I think you've got to look at the legacy of what Gareth Southgate went and did afterwards as well.

I'm not taking it purely from a football perspective.

England to get into the next two out of three finals, I think that's an incredible legacy from on the pitch stuff.

Of course, we've talked about the many good things that have happened off it, but I think there's a real genuine football legacy there.

And like what Dan said earlier on,

We're not used to England players being like the best.

I remember Gazza being the best in the world in 90, but I don't remember Harry Kane is arguably the best striker in the world.

But we're more conditioned to that a bit more now, certainly on the pitch.

But again, it goes back to the amazing, incredible leadership that Southgate did on and off the pitch throughout his time.

And I think I remember talking about walking out of stadiums or despondent.
