And also a political satire very thinly veiled in Stanley Johnson's Compromat.
There's a couple I've managed to get through in the last week.
The Woman in the Window, being one of them, it's a thriller.
And I know that you read this in one sitting, Kate Evans, because you are a reading machine.
But it's taken me a bit longer for some reason.
And I was rereading a fair bit of it.
And it's possibly because of the hype around this book.
It's a debut novel.
It's got praise quotes in the advanced copies that are incredible.

Gillian Flynn, the author of Gone Girl, Val McDermott, the Scottish crime superstar, Nicky French, Australia's Jane Harper, who wrote The Dry.

Managed to make a liar of you out of that.
But I won't say too much more about it because we will be talking about this next week.
But aside from anything else, it tells us something about, well, it's something very intriguing about right now, both in the contemporary mind space we're in, but also about some of the big trends in current fiction, I think.
