No, you're not wrong.
And the whole organizational policy on no trade clauses to me in general and citing that as a reason why you fell short on Bregman, to me it doesn't make any sense.
This isn't like some low-level employee citing a policy put in place by a company president
to why they couldn't handle something for a client or whatnot.
The people in these negotiations, it's the chief baseball officer, it's the team president, it's ownership.
These are the people who have the power to do whatever they want with the organization.
So I can't hear that.
If they wanted the guy back, if they wanted the player...
They can give the no trade clause and they would have done it.
And the other part about this, too, is that the importance of this player in the grand scheme of things for them.
And, you know, sure, like much like some people in the front office could want to pick apart Bregman last year and you can pick apart him this year.
Some people, you know, when we talk to people, Gordo, they will say, oh, well, you know, he's not as good a player as anybody thinks, and everything else is overstated.
Fine.
But still, you define this guy as the linchpin for your whole offseason.
This is it.
And they talked him up all last season, Rob, at every corner.
Well, and the other part about that, too, is, and I don't think probably gets enough play, is how they sort of mismanaged the season.
You know, like where...
from what I understand, there was no attempt to, to, to engage in a contract extension.
And I'm not saying that it would have been able to get it done because they were probably willing to go to the market.
