right and what happens as a shark is spotted and everybody's told to get out of the water you just everyone get out of the water yeah i mean we already have lifeguards patrolling and they've always done that you know the shark alarms have been around for 50 60 70 no longer 100 years but um yeah with drones you've got a much better vantage point and so a lot of the beaches are patrolled
I mean, they do tend to patrol less in winter and I suspect that they'll probably now up that.
I mean, the New South Wales government has been fantastic about trying to use the best technology they can to prevent shark attacks because we've had clusters of attacks occurring at different periods and, you know, we love the ocean and it's very important to our economy as well and so they're trying to make sure that people are safe when they go in the water.
No, I don't.
But a lot of my friends are a little bit traumatised after this weekend attack, I think because it was such beautiful conditions.
And, yeah, no, actually, I was freediving just after that attack, just around the corner.
It's my local beach, so Coogee's not very far away at all.
It's about 10 minutes away.
And...
I mean, the risks are not zero, but then I'm much more concerned about strong, really big waves.
I'm a little bit old.
And bad drivers, if I cycle to the beach on my bike, much more concerned about the drivers than I am about sharks.
