Yeah, like footy clubs and stuff.
I think I was probably 17.
I got into a band at the local footy club.
I remember just at the urinal one night there was a band playing and I was having a sing in the toilet, as you do, and my mate goes, you can sing all right.
My brother's looking for a singer in his band and they were like 10 years older than me.
So my dad drove me to the rehearsal and made sure that, you know, these guys were legit nice guys.
And they were.
And we started playing at footy clubs and cricket clubs and then started playing in pubs.
And then I did that for like three years.
So three, four nights a week.

And then Australian Idol came along and I was like, all right,
I'm ready.
I changed schools at the end of year 10 at Brentwood.
They didn't have music or drama at my school, so I changed to do music and drama.
I dropped out at the end of year 11 of drama because I was too scared to do drama.
So, yeah, I wish I could go back to young Robert and go, it's okay.
Yeah.
You're a theatre nerd, it's okay.
