Yes, exactly.
And when I started doing research for the Darker series, I discovered that there were these extraordinary pockets of bizarre and disconcerting political groups, one of which was a genuine, genuine, proper Nazi sympathiser group.
And they were attached to an organisation called Australia First.
And Australia First put out a monthly magazine called The Publicist, which is kind of horrifying.
And as the war increased, the hysterical anti-Semitism within the magazine became more and more extreme.
It's unbelievable to read that stuff and to know that you could buy it for sixpence.
in Australia in the 1930s and the early 40s.
All of the board of the Publicist was interned during the war, including Inky Stevenson, who was a big force in Australian publishing.
But all of that fascinated me.
And so that group of people are in the Holiday Murders and in the Port Ferry Murders, which is its sequel.
And I don't think very many people know that as an organisation, it existed.
Yeah, they had fascist leanings, but they weren't, these people were national socialists.
They weren't just sympathizers.
They considered themselves to be national socialists.
And part of their agenda was to replace the Australian government with a national socialist government.
And I know that sounds bizarre.
And they were a fringe group, no question, but they were there.
I was interested in exploring them.
Yeah.
That is such an interesting question.
