Yeah, so the case has been relatively quiet in recent months.
This morning, Garda announced they arrested a woman aged in her 50s in relation to the disappearance and murder of Cairn Durnan.
She's being detained at a Garda station in the Eastern Region under provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
which means she can be held for a period of up to 24 hours.
Now, Gardaí are also carrying out a search on a warrant of a domestic residence in Drogheda, and that's where Cairan Durland had been living for a period of time before he was missing.
He was officially reported missing, obviously, in August 2024, but Gardaí certainly believe he disappeared and lost his life or was killed maliciously sometime before that, and his last known, I suppose, whereabouts or when he was alive has been pinpointed to June 2022, so a fairly significant gap
between when he was last known to be alive and when he was officially reported missing.
She has, so she would have been known to Coyran.
She has dealt a number of times with investigators in the initial stages of that disappearance and missing person case and also during the investigation into what was upgraded to a murder investigation.
It's the first time she's been arrested, but over the past number of years, she has voluntarily spoken to a guardian on a number of occasions.
She has given a number of statements, which were witness statements,
It's not the first arrest, Robin.
It's not so.
It's the third arrest per the investigation now in December 2024.
Two people were arrested.
The first arrest was on December 10th when a woman who was known to Cairn, she had been living in the UK.
She returned to Ireland via ferry and she was arrested upon her arrival.
Now she was questioned on suspicion of murder and held for 24 hours, but she was ultimately released without charge.
And my understanding is that she denied any wrongdoing at all.
And that was the first arrest as part of the investigation.
