It was, but why, if it's the inventor of pleasurable sex, is it named after me?
Only you can answer that.
Well, just to make it clear, it was internal fertilisation and John Long and his colleagues had actually found that the young were carried live and so there was internal fertilisation and there was a way in which it could actually live there for a little while.
Yes, it is not just internal fertilisation because you can have an egg, as it were, in the pouch and then fertilise that egg.
The fact is that the female was able to sustain the growing embryo, isn't it?
That's right, yeah.
That's what makes it a sort of a competitor with the mammals on its own.
Have you been to Gogo, where the fish fossils were found?
Yeah, certainly I have.
And that, I think, is why John was so flattering as to name it after me.
Gogo is an extraordinary place.
As a matter of fact, when we wanted to film there, I have to say this, and you probably know it anyway, but it was a British scientist who discovered those first fossils in Gogo, and he took them all away in order to work out how to prepare them, which they did in London.
And that didn't go down all that well, you know.
Touch of the Elgin Marbles.
Well, exactly.
And so when I came back, I said to the geologist in charge of the place, I'd like to go and film.
And he said, why?
There's nothing there.
He said, you blokes come across from England, you know, and you think you took it.
Of course, you did a rotten job.
