So whatever TV partner they get next year is going to have a lot to say about that.
Having said that, to try to poo-poo it, I think there's a very good chance it will be.
a three-week gap between the Derby and the Preakness, and then we'll see how the Belmont Stakes falls into place.
No, but I think that the New York Racing Association would probably look long and hard at moving the Belmont back and making it a full six weeks after the Derby and then you'd go three and three.
This has happened before.
It's not without precedent.
1952, 53, and 54, it was Kentucky Derby, three weeks Preakness, three weeks Belmont, and that was in the blush of Citation winning the Triple Crown in 1948.
