I think our job as parents is to help our kids become their true selves, not what we want them to be.
And if we can help them embrace their gifts and help them instill their confidence and let them know that it's okay to be whoever they are, that that is, I think, the best thing that you can do.
And you get that sense of pride when you do see it, when you see them in their element.
And I've seen the reverse with me and my mom.
She was originally supportive of my comedy career, but as it was going on a while and I wasn't making any money and I had my son, she was more like, hey, you've had enough fun.
Now it's time for you to buckle down and support this kid more and quit asking me to help pay your phone bill.
