But it will be a huge event.
It'll be bigger than the one at the K Club.
It has a huge Irish angle to it.
And the Ryder Cup is only kind of growing in stature and people naturally will want to be there.
But the pricing is, I mean, they didn't dynamically price this one, but they essentially did.
I think they are charged just about what they thought they could get from people.
My issue with some of this, Ben, Joe, is that the government of the day, right, and Shane Rouse was the minister for sport, effectively signed a blank check when they did the deal to bring...
Because what they did, like for all these things, they commissioned one of these economic impact reports.
It said the Ryder Cup would generate blah, blah, blah in terms of tourism.
They committed a certain amount of public money to the event based on those figures.
Since then, the costs have absolutely escalated.
So now what they do, they commission another economic impact report to justify the additional cost.
No, it doesn't feel good at all.
The public money thing grates with me as well because we're giving public money to massive, massive sporting tournaments.
massive now maybe we don't get them here right unless we commit the money like given 10 million euro to the nfl like that's a crazy thing to do but we had to do it to get them to get the license to bring them here to dublin yeah so you're committing public money to bring an event to dublin that the tickets cost 300 euro to attend yeah well that's true but but i think um it would be the same with the when the euros are here like for sure like what what price is the tickets going to be
to see Ireland playing.
Yeah, of course they did.
But I emailed the government and I asked them and I said, can I see your economic impact report?
And they sent me back saying, as the figures are considered to be commercially sensitive, we've only released the headline figures.
So people say lots of things and there's lots of ways of justifying these things.
