It kind of made sense to my simple journalistic mind.

I never really seriously thought it would be UFOs.

And so I was in Washington with 60 Minutes doing a story for another story.

And I met somebody that I'd met in Afghanistan, who I knew was connected to military intelligence, the Defense Intelligence Agency.

And they agreed to meet me at a bar in Georgetown.

And they were very friendly because Australia was one of their only allies in the war on terrorism.

And

We fought wars with them, stupid wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

And I spent a lot of time covering those wars.

And I had numbers in my book of phone numbers of people who were quite high up in the American military and intelligence community.

And this guy sat down with a beer, Sam Adams, in front of me on a lovely, chilly Washington night.

And I remember I said to him, I was going to prove that this was all an American black world program.

And I could see he was looking at me and he was kind of giggling.

And he said, Ross, it's real.

And I went, what do you mean it's real?

He said,

And I said, what do you mean?

You're not telling me that there's really something to this, are you?

And he went, I am.

And he said, if I was a journalist, I'd be investigating it.
