earlier this year and some of the executives claiming that Hasbro had made misleading comments about the printing strategy for Magic the Gathering and had therefore damaged the stock prices.
The lawsuit claimed that the overprinting of Magic sets, which apparently has increased exponentially in recent years, had weakened confidence in the brand, resulted in a temporarily inflated stock price, influenced a stock buyback, and ultimately resulted in a significant loss back in 2022, which is a lot of corp speak.
Well, apparently, there was a 30th anniversary set which was being sold for $999.
Expensive kind of anniversary set.
And one of the claims made in this law is that Wizards artificially overhyped the performance of this set.
And Wizards claimed that they sold out in an hour.
whereas the lawsuit claims that leftover stock was dumped at a Texas landfill.
Wow.
So who knows what the actual truth of the matter is.
So the lawsuit was filed earlier this year.
It has now been voluntarily dismissed.
So you don't necessarily know what the terms that they came to, you know, whether they.
If it's something that's dismissed with prejudice, then it can't be refiled.
The motion can't be brought again without prejudice.
You can bring it back again at a later date.
But no reason has been given for why it was dismissed, and nobody's commented on it either, any of those people involved.
