Because I remember the whole sequences where you're looking back at her childhood and sort of telling the story of how she became to be the songwriter that she became.

There was all this kind of very artistically shot, beautiful footage.

Was that newly created for the doc?

Yeah, so he was the director of the famous Nothing Compares to You music video.

He did all of them.

He was a collaborator of Derek Jarman, wasn't he?

I met him back in the club days when I was in my band.

He was always around.

I'm sure you did.

Yeah, he's a cool guy.

And you actually had Sinead's voice newly recorded for the documentary.

So she actually recorded a kind of new audio piece.

You don't see her, you just hear her voice.

younger Sinead who does sound quite different but only in like archive and TV performances and obviously there's that really amazing quote in it where she says they tried to bury me but they forgot I was a seed yeah and this idea that you know ideas can live on and that you can try and stop people or crush people or even you know if you look at the world right now people are being killed in so many different countries

But actually in that ground, something new will grow.

And I just found that still to this day.

I know it's become a very quoted phrase, but it's quoted for a reason because it's such a powerful phrase.

Was that like a joy to discover that?

Yeah.

you know when she sadly passed away it was obviously such a big shock for everybody and even though i didn't know her very well at all i only met her very briefly but i felt this lifelong connection to her like you did i know you talk about her being like an older sister or something it is really strange when someone famous passes away i felt like so grateful to you that you'd sort of fought her corner and to all the people that you collaborated with
