In 2025, OpenAI released a major update to its chatbot, ChatGPT-5.
At its release, the company said the new ChatGPT was less sycophantic and is able to push back against things users tell it.
But the earlier, more agreeable version, ChatGPT 4.0, is still available to users who pay for access.
Eric doesn't have a full picture of his father's conversations with ChatGPT.

So Eric wants OpenAI to release all the chat logs.
But so far, the company's declined to do so.

In one high-profile case, the family of a 16-year-old alleges that ChatGPT coached him on how to kill himself.
According to that lawsuit, Chachapiti told the Texas man, quote, I'm with you, brother, all the way.
