So with Cease, let's assume health, but let's not necessarily assume the economy of innings that we've seen the last couple of starts.
How close do you think he'd get there?
Alec Manoa, by the way, who in addition to one clean inning against the Blue Jays on the weekend, had one of the funnier stat lines that you're going to see just the other day.
He threw five out of the bullpen for the Angels, walked five, and only struck out two, but zero earned runs.
So he's at a 0.00 right now, Jonah.
He's back.
Joking aside about how far the actual quality of the stuff is, it is cool to see him back and having a role in the majors and able to give some length there.
Let's look ahead a little bit from the pitching side, Jonah.
The Jays, again, one of the reasons this feels like a big win is because they've got an off day today, and they're heading into a pretty arduous stretch of schedule.
That will start with three at Detroit, four at the Yankees.
They'll be back home for six against NL opponents, and then four more on the road at Baltimore.
So 11 of the next 17 are road games against teams that are in the mix with the Blue Jays in the American League East and for the American League wildcard.
They are also heading into that spot, into that 17-game stretch,
with one day that is earmarked as a bullpen day or spot start day.
Patrick Corbin's also holding down one of those spots, and he's been quite good so far.
But that's two spots that we didn't expect to be navigating if you were the Toronto Blue Jays.
And that bullpen spot, the way things currently line up, will line up for Game 2, 7, 12, and 17 of that stretch.
So four of those will have to be a bullpen day slash spot start day.
So...
As we start to lay this out, as we look at it, how are you feeling about the Blue Jays' ability to navigate two and a half weeks with effectively four starters?
