Your dad was superintendent of the apartment complex you lived in?
Yeah.
He had, like, five jobs, but, yeah.
He was the New York City sanitation man and then the superintendent of our apartments, yeah.
So what did he do?
Did he get a break on the rent?
Yeah.
I knew a few of those people.
It seemed, by the way, you know you're poor when that seems like a sweet, sweet deal.
All you gotta do is fix everyone's toilet and you get 50% off your shitty apartment.
And I'd go, no, but back then it was like,

But then my parents separated when I was young.
And then we moved into an apartment in the building right next door.
And then he paid for that.
But luckily, he had his for free.
And then we just went back and forth between apartments in two buildings.
