And I didn't know anything about it.
I was lucky enough to get a proof copy from my publisher.
And I'd heard, you know, I'd heard a lot about it.
So I was really excited.
And I just really enjoyed it.
It's like every time I got attached to something, it got taken away.
And I felt like maybe that, I don't know, maybe that was part of it.
You know, there's a character who's like Margaret who's introduced and then she
turns out not to be the main character and then somebody else comes along and then they disappear.
And so every time I kind of thought that, every time I invested in something, the whole story would kind of change tack, which I really enjoyed because it just kept me going.
Yeah, I agree with Michaela.
I thought that Nadi really shone through when she was introducing those really imaginative
elements to the story.
Well, something I really
loved about the style of writing is the the author nicola can i just get a free pass on all my pronunciation please and if my french ex-boyfriend is listening to this do not harass me i'm sorry no judgment here so um yeah the author and does he's in like okay i'm just gonna read can i read from the book is that oh please um
Because there's this incredible paragraph, and I actually found myself wishing that it had been the first line, like the very, very first.
But it's like the third paragraph on the first page, and it goes, Anthony had just turned 14.
He could devour an entire baguette with vashkiri cheese as a snack.
At night, wearing headphones, he sometimes wrote songs.
His parents were idiots.
