Welcome to another episode of Bloomberg Intelligence's Vanguards of Healthcare podcast, where we speak with the leaders at the forefront of change in the healthcare industry.
My name is Sam Fazelli, and I'm a pharmaceutical analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, the in-house research arm of Bloomberg.
I am thrilled to welcome Alex Zhavoronkov, founder and CEO of Insilico Medicine.
Alex, welcome to the program.
Happy to be with you, Santodame.
As usual, I'm going to start asking Alex a little bit about himself.
I had the privilege of spending some quality time together with Alex a couple of weeks back in Shanghai, and we had a good event there where you were a key contributor, which I'm really appreciative of.
So Alex, tell us a little bit about yourself for our listeners and how you started into the world of computing, computation, coding, whatever you like, and how it brought you to where you are today.
I haven't met a single – I don't know any other CEO of a biotech company who thinks they're overvalued.
I know a few.
Oh, I'd love to meet them.
No, but of course, you believe in your own effort.
And I have to say, this sounds – next time I see you, I'm going to bring you a book, the biography of Michael Bloomberg, who is obviously the founder of the company.
You'll find some parallels in there, in that he financed the early days of Bloomberg completely with his own money.
And I think there was a six-month angle there too at some point where if there was no deals coming, he would have run out of cash.
So I think it was six months, a year, I don't remember.
But it's in the book.
I'll bring it to you as a present.
Please do.
So there are some good parallels there.
