And I think this also highlights the divide in the party about how to approach this president headed into the midterms.

Republican Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio calls the decision outrageous, writing that the court, quote, handcuffs our fight against unfair trade that has devastated American workers.
He's calling on Congress to codify the tariffs using a maneuver that requires only a simple majority in the Senate.
But even that may be challenging.
Republican Senator John Curtis of Utah says the ruling affirms that the founders' system of checks and balances remains strong.
Former Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wrote that Congress's role in trade policy is not an inconvenience to avoid.

The White House and Democrats have been trading offers, but Democrats have described Republican proposals so far as insufficient, and Republicans are calling Democrats' demands unreasonable, like requiring judicial warrants for some enforcement operations.
And judging by how fast lawmakers left D.C.
last Thursday, the two sides are still very far apart.
It is the third shutdown in as many months.
And despite ongoing back and forth between the White House and congressional Democrats, a deal is not close.
