The jury's out whether he's the right coach for this club, but he is certainly the right leader for this club.
And he showed that leadership at his media conference.
And I disagree with the criticism of him.
Yes, I don't necessarily think that...
Now, I'll rephrase that.
I disagree with the criticism of him because he's entitled to defend his football club however he sees fit to rally the people at that football club, the players, the coaches, the staff.
And I know that the people inside that footy club loved what he said.
And at a time of trauma...
at a time of great unrest at Icon Park, that's exactly what was required, Simo.
Well, the AFL wanted it resolved this week.
It's a long way towards doing so because Carlton have given their findings and their review to the league.
So then the league will determine what sanction, if any... Do you know how the process works?
I think the AFL, Gerard, will be aligning what they believe to be the truth behind the scenes based on their own investigation with what Carlton says it is and whether that all marries up.
Okay.
Yeah, I think that's what's important.
And I think...
It's easy for me to say this based on there's no reason to think there's a smoking gun.
There's no reason to think that there is gross negligence to the point of a $500,000 fine or a soft cap penalty that would cripple the club.
I've said for the last week, I think the most likely scenario is a sanction of some sort that doesn't cripple the club, but more importantly, a framework that's put in place that doesn't take two years like the Petrarca situation so that if this sort of thing happens again, a club can deal with it in a better way.
