I heard like the squeak of a floorboard.
It sounded like it was just outside my bedroom door.
I could see some sort of shadow that wasn't normally there.
And my heart starts racing.
My mind shoots to the hatchet I kept under my mattress.
In that second, someone storms into my room and jumps on me while I'm in bed.
And I begin screaming, hoping that someone would hear me, and I feel his hands around my throat, and he begins to choke me.
And it gets tougher to breathe, and I just think, he's gonna kill me.
He puts me in the back seat.
I'm being kidnapped in my own vehicle.
Once we leave my house, the likelihood of me surviving this experience goes down drastically.
kind of a fight for my life.
He stops the car and asked me to lean forward and he ties a bandana around my eyes so I can't see anymore.
But I know the neighborhood and I begin counting the turns.
