So I think in order to start, really, you've got to start with the attitude that if you don't get it the first time, that's okay.
In the same way that we all find something different in novels or in TV shows or any other kind of culture that we consume, poems do have
this kind of net of possible meanings and should be resonant in different ways to different people.
In terms of where to go for poetry, there are so many places now.
It's sort of the coronavirus has produced an explosion of free poetry.
I don't know if you've come across this, but there's so many different organisations at the moment asking poets to read, record readings, to live stream them.
You know, the Queensland Poetry Festival is doing that.
So there's lots and lots and lots, perhaps more than ever, freely accessible kind of poetry.
And I think it's just a question, just in the same way as we discover what our palate is for food or for anything else, it's a question of trying a few things rather than trying one thing and then deciding that the entire kind of form is not for you.
So that would be my kind of advice is just have a look at what's out there.
There's so many places you can turn to it.
It's a cultural institution, I think, ABR, and I'm so excited to lead the magazine.
It's a tricky time for all arts organisations, but ABR's really lucky to have incredibly engaged readership
incredibly kind of supportive community of writers and readers around it.
So it's a true honour, honestly.
So yes, the ABR has got a new podcast, a relatively new podcast that's coming out fortnightly on Wednesdays.
