And what came up was a world of the most extraordinary stories I've ever seen that I could never have imagined was out there.

And what it led me to was the discovery that men who behave as Joe did often, and I can't diagnose him, but often have personality disorders, either narcissistic personality disorder or antisocial personality disorder, which have a whole spectrum and series of characteristics that are immensely fascinating.

And risk-taking is one of the behaviours that is very typical of these people.

I think that's what led me to write a book, the response.

And as you would know, some stories just hit a trigger, and this one did.

And the outpouring was extraordinary on social media, into my inbox.

I just could not keep up with the number of emails and messages that were coming in.
