Right.
Because back then in the year 2000, 2001, the legislation, you know, didn't protect, like we didn't have the special care laws and things like that in existence, which some of the other states did.
So teachers could technically have a relationship with a student once they turned 16 and it wasn't a criminal offence.
Whereas now...
Now it would be.
So it was, yeah, it was just really that six month window.
I certainly had lots of school, people I went to school with that could verify things.
And my mum obviously was able to testify on some stuff as well.
It was a weird thing because it sort of like I blinked and the prison sentence was over.
You know, it was so good.
It was probably the first time I felt like I could just like breathe out and relax, you know, knowing that he was away and for a period of time I didn't have to worry about him.
He was just gone.
And then, yeah, I blinked and we were sort of at that point where I'm like, oh, gosh, he's about to come out.
What is this going to look like, you know?
How did you juggle this with your kids?
Yeah, it was really hard.
And, you know, that was also what played, you know, that was a big part of my decision making of also going to police because, yeah,
Not that I'm responsible for what he did, but, you know, I felt like I'd be responsible for what happened to him from that point forward by going and reporting it.
And, you know, knowing that is their father, I didn't want them to be damaged or traumatized by that process.
But yeah, in the end, I just, I thought if anything, I'm modeling the right thing to do, even though it's hard.
