Should Noah Gray be on a $6 million per year contract right now?
I mean, I think the Noah Gray signing was insurance against Travis Kelsey retiring, which means it's the player's decision on whether to retire, but it's your decision as to whether or not you're going to keep β because, like, the domino effect of the Travis Kelsey retirement is, one β
Well, we kind of think he's coming back so we don't go draft the tight end high.
They don't ever think in terms of tight end because we have Travis Kelsey, and we're trying to win right now, so we're drafting for need.
But then he might go, so we have to re-sign Noah Gray to $6 million a year, and he averages 200 or 300 yards receiving a year, but we're going to give him $6 million.
You're getting replacement-level tight end play from Noah Gray, but you're paying $6 million for it.
Because we don't know on a year-to-year basis whether or not Travis Kelsey is going to play.
You know what would have been wise?
Because then when he does decide to play, he's a $14 million cap hit.
I want to look at the tight end spending is, oh, I want the position ranks.
But the actual cap is not as bad.
