So, obviously, I look back to that in extremely fond memories, but I've said it many times before, I've also played with Hearts, I've also played with Motherwell within Scotland, I've played with Livingston, obviously, growing up as a young player.
And I've enjoyed all four clubs that I've been at in Scotland and
I said it today, the amount of people that, you always talk about former teammates, current teammates, managers, coaches, but the amount of people in the back, you've got all these football clubs, the canteen staff, people that do the tickets, they're what makes Scottish football what it is.
I just want to give a thank you to them as well.
They've played a part in my journey.
Like I said, I'll still be a
a big step forward in Scottish football, shall we say, moving forward.
Well, my highlight was back when I said that Monday with you.
I don't think Roger was too happy.
But, do you know what, in terms of games...
It's so hard to pinpoint one.
I know it's a cliche, but just to say your debut.
Because like you say, when you've got 10, 15 years there, I want to be a football player.
All the highs, all the lows, getting released, getting injured, all the sacrifices you make when your pals are gone at the weekend and you're not.
To eventually be able to call yourself a full-time football player and make your professional debut in the game.
it's not until you look back you talked about looking back earlier on and reminiscing I still vividly remember that day and what that meant to not only myself but my family so I had plenty of highs and lows within it but I'm proud of it all obviously it makes a character it shapes you up to be the man you are today so yeah it's now time to start
watching the younger generation hopefully do it and do it even better quite a nice thing for you Scott because Andy's talking about that percentage chance everybody you know that cliche every wee boy and girl in the west of Scotland you know maybe wants to be a footballer when they grow up the fact that you two both did it same class at primary school all that sort of stuff now that you're old men and are hanging up the boots I make you feel a bit strange
I think it probably makes me feel proud when you look at the journey I remember Andy's mum, my mum taking us to the same things when we were five, six year old whether it was a race course whether it was at Cardinal College in the indoor pitch and then obviously our journeys Andy went to Rangers I ended up at Dundee United and we've kind of had similar paths Andy went to Middlesbrough I went to West Brom we've kind of been there through thick and thin together and through a lot of good times but the same a lot of lows as Andy touched on there
but I think the biggest one was obviously Andy when he took the risk to go in and trial at Rangers and at that time obviously coming back from England a lot of players wouldn't take that risk and in and trial there sometimes comes a wee bit of
the word I would use a wee bit of fear going in on trial because not often do players go in on trial get signed and Andy went in and I remember after a wee few the players texting saying Andy's been incredible and me and Andy obviously share the same agency and Andy's going to get signed so I was absolutely delighted for him you obviously have that experience I know how much that meant to him and what he wanted to do when he was young so then to come through this
