CELTIC 6-2 ST MIRREN SCOTTISH CUP SEMI-FINAL | SUNDAY 19TH APRIL

You beat me to it there with that one I think Neil Lennon's actually doing the commentary for one of the broadcasters because he's not allowed in to handle that listen I think for me Celtic-Guinness are the game's favourites I think just looking at how both teams have set up

I think Maeda through the middle, I think that'll be Celtic looking to stretch in behind that rigid back three, back five it will be at times you expect Celtic to have well maybe not, if you look at last week's second half, Devaney for me was a real driving force in that Submarine midfield, but I do think on this occasion Celtic will look to control the ball, try and use Maeda's strength and his pace in behind that back line of Submarine, and they'll take confidence in the second half but they have to carry more of a threat, no Trevante as he says on the bench, whether that's injury or

just because of performances we won't quite know as of yet.

Engels coming in I do think is a massive boost for Celtic especially from set-piece situations.

We know how good they can be on the dead ball situations but for me Celtic win is favourites but we just never quite know if we're looking at how Celtic have performed over 90 minutes throughout the course of these seasons.

It's a huge game and these are the sort of games I think Ryan Mullan's sitting there

waiting on the wings to try and get the opportunity for us so as you say it's former Celtic youth player he was there when I was at Celtic at the time and this is a huge opportunity can he grasp it Neil Lennon did it firmly and I'll wait the winners next month Andrew it's all to play for at Hampden Celtic against St Mirren

his delivery from set plays is on the money it's one of his strengths he's really good that could be a big factor for Celtic today that midfield battle yeah we'll go over to our resident midfielder that we've got over at Hampden in Scott Allen how much do you think Celtic have missed Arne Engels in the last couple of months Scott yeah I think he is one of their players yes he does have criticism because he hasn't maybe gave performances week in week out but there's no getting away from it he can produce big moments and has done for Celtic

I think over dead balls, I know people think it's easy for everybody just to put a ball into the box, but when it's come in with quality, it really gives the defenders something to go and get on the end of.

So I do think that adds a bit of a spark there, a bit of quality.

And amongst Negan and Callum McGregor, because for Celtic over the last month or so, the quality in midfield have been overrun at times when teams have made it man for man.

For me, they've been dominated.

You only have to look as far back as last week, that second half, where

St Mirren probably had more possession than they've ever had at Celtic Park and that would be a real worrying sign for Martin O'Neill and his coaching staff because that is usually that game is usually won in midfield especially in there but at any time Celtic have been made into a man for man they just haven't quite handled that it'll be interesting to see how Craig McLeish and this St Mirren team does look because they have changed their style of play I'm still looking at that Celtic team thinking that you can get at them if you turn them you need to make them defend they've got mistakes in them

and that's maybe why St Mirren came out victorious in the League Cup final because of the style of play that Steven Robinson had put together at St Mirren so it'll be interesting to see can they now carry a threat against the Celtic side playing a better style of football and ultimately we'll see at the end of this game whether it goes to extra time or not we're yet to see but the midfield battle between both teams is going to be huge in this game for me

as long as you can stay in the game give yourself chances to go and score goals that's one thing they have to do today they have to be more creative and take more care in the final third Celtic on the other hand I know the guys I was speaking about Maeda playing up front

I just feel he might be able to get the stretch super in and then that plays up the 1v1 for Konecki on the opposite side to come in and maybe get his shots away.

We've seen him score some fabulous goals this season.

He does, but I think the most important thing for me, Roger, in that kind of match-up

Celtic have got to keep the ball a lot better I think when you're playing against energy and physicality you've got to make them run you've got to show composure on the ball that's one part of Celtic's game where I feel it's not been as strong this year and that's that real composure and calmness on the ball and that comes with the pressure to be on the club this season Liam Scales has been a mainstay and up back forward for Celtic this season he's suspended he misses out Benjamin Arthur and Austin Crusty rarely seen together how will they do against a young guy in Manoran
