I ultimately approached him and he chatted with me for quite a while there in the street.
At first he was pretty freaked out.
He said he didn't want to talk to me and he started lying about all kinds of stuff right away.
He said his lawyers were
you know he said his lawyers would would be in touch with me he didn't have any lawyers at that time he said he started mentioning all these friends people that he wanted me to talk to none of those people existed as far as i could tell uh so there was this kind of barrage right of of like faints and half truths and outright lies but then mixed in there was was the the skeleton of of
you know, his, his story.
There were, there were things that he said that were, that were true and people who he mentioned who did exist because I'd spoken to them.
So there was a kind of, you know, the seed of, of something real.
And of course that drew me in further because I really wanted to understand who he was.
And I think this goes back to maybe, you know, our mutual interest in the, in these topics is, is sort of like, well, what, what are the deeper psychological questions?
forces at work and who are these people?
Why do they do what they do?
What shaped them?
What events in their early life went into making them who they are, who they became?
And I really was interested in that.
I wasn't just out to kind of get a salacious, crazy story.
I was genuinely interested
curious about who this person was and why he did what he did.
And so to me, there was like an intrinsic value in having a conversation with him because I thought those answers to be instructive about the nature of what it means to be a human being, which is of endless fascination to me.
Oh, 100 percent.
