When Varel was questioned by police, he admitted to being at the house with both murder victims on the evening of January 27th. But he claimed that it was simply a social visit. They listened to music, they talked, and they also consumed narcotics together.

Absolutely. I mean, he would be the first one that they would need to eliminate. He obviously had the opportunity to commit a crime. He was there. So they need to dig into the relationship that he had with both of the victims, Anastasia, and any potential physical evidence. And when I say, you know, remember the evidence of him being present, is not just enough. They need more than that.

Even more telling, his prints were also pulled from the trash bags found in the laundry room. Both trash bags contained blood-stained items that belonged to the victims, including a bloody sheet containing Jenna's DNA.
