And in 1769 and 1770, when they did recover those treasures, the indigenous people said, hey, we know right where this stuff is.
We've been guarding it the whole time.
And so what I like to say to people is this coming year,
in 2026, when we as Americans are going to be celebrating our 250th anniversary of the founding of this nation.
One of my goals here, and Aubrey, you are helping me to accomplish this goal by giving me a platform to tell this story that I think is vitally important in many ways.
And bringing up the indigenous people makes me so happy because this coming year when we're celebrating and we're honoring our founding fathers who were pretty much all Freemasons and do deserve a lot of credit,
We cannot forget about those indigenous tribes that guarded those treasures.
And it's also interesting that when 46 men, young men, were tasked with going up to recover those treasures by people like Brent Franklin and George Mason, they also sent up six slaves to help recover those treasures.
Now, I'm going to ask you a question, Aubrey.
Have you ever heard of the word manumission?
I haven't either.
Don't feel bad.
I learned it in the journals.
It means to give a slave their freedom.
And those six slaves were all given their manumission.
And we have their names.
They're in the journals after they helped recover those treasures that were used to fund the revolution.
So as I said, when we're celebrating this coming year,
Not only do we want to thank our founding fathers and all those people who fought in those wars, the revolution and the other wars, we can't forget about the indigenous people and we can't forget about those six slaves.
And I see this as an opportunity to bring people of all creeds and colors and races together because at the end of the day, we're all one, right?
