But half of the scrolls were still there.

One of the letters we have is dated 1656.

That Templar knight wrote this letter on May 8th of 1656.

And he said, essentially, Hollanders and Flatlanders are encroaching.

In other words, settlement was happening and people were moving into the area near the temple of the goddess.

We got to get this stuff out of here.

I'm paraphrasing.

We need to go to the land of the Sulpicians.

Now we know the Sulpicians are a French tradition that is part of the Templar order.

Montreal was settled by the Sulpicians.

That's why they speak French up there.

And there's more to the story.

I'm not going to go down that rabbit hole, but we know what happened.

So the mission was to get all these scrolls that were remaining that de Soutley did not get 500 years earlier and take them to Montreal to safekeeping.

We now know that they diverted

because at the end of this letter is a list of the documents that they had.

We've shown this list to biblical scholars.
