Dug down into the ground, and I found a small aluminum vessel for cooking, for camping, and it was buried.
It was trash.
Damn it.
But because, you know, the azimuth, if you're off by even a degree or two, even after only 138 feet, you can be off by tens of feet.
So I went and arced up on a flatter part of the hill, metal detected, got another hit.
No, it's uneven topography.
Yeah, that's tough.
It's kind of coming down towards the lake.

And then...
It turned out to be a 1950s era Coke can.
Okay.
So more, you know, swing and a miss, right?
It might be.
It had bullet holes in it.
They used it for target practice.
Anyway, then we moved over a little bit further and there was a stump.
I mean, a big old rotting stump that was low to the ground and started detecting, got a hit.
So I started digging and I pulled out a camping tent nail, like aluminum, this long.
