I'm declaring myself as your cricket man because in June, when BBL becomes news, then it must be big.
And that's what's happening at the moment.
No, not anymore.
No, it's probably dropped back from number two to number three or four.
Yeah, the lack of money involved compared to the hundred in England and South Africa.
It's probably number three or four.
Yeah, yes, and that's why they want to privatise it.
Well, Cricket Australia want to privatise, ideally, all eight franchises, but if not, then a portion of those franchises, so that there's a massive cash injection into the game, a big sugar hit of money from India or the USA or anywhere else around the world, and there's pushback from New South Wales and Queensland at the moment because they believe that Cricket Australia isn't necessarily being responsible with its...
money.
And as a result, there is some debate going on for the next two weeks as to whether all franchises should be privatised.
And if not, there should be a hybrid model where you might privatise the Renegades, the Scorchers and the Hurricanes and the other franchises remain entirely owned by the states as they are at the moment.
It's a different model in cricket, Gaz, because to use an AFL example, there's a commission in the AFL, which I think we can all agree has the greater good of the game at its core values and at its heart.
In cricket, there's a federated model, which is very different.
And as a result, regional politics takes over.
So New South Wales wants what's best for them and Queensland wants what's best for them.
There's no central body that decides what's best for the game, which is why there's a debate at the moment.
Yes.
So the Stars and the Renegades are merging as one all-powerful Victorian team.
Now, this team will likely wear navy blue.
This team will likely have a big V. And this team will be called the Melbourne โ insert nickname here โ
