They were the retro look.
And I think my sister was wearing what I referred to as Adidas Mexicana, which was 1968 games.
I think they're now referred to as Gazelle.
And my sister was sort of saying, yeah, I think they're really cool.
I said, they are.
I said, do you know that I ran 50 miles a week in those?
And my daughter laughed and she went, no way.
And I went, yeah.
And I said, you're wearing another pair of Adidas shoes as they were.
And I went, you know, I ran nearly 65, 70 miles a week in those.
And she went, no way.
And look,
The reality of it is I broke the world record for 800 meters in a pair of 24 pound 50 Nike spikes.
And so there has always been an evolution.
And that evolution has not just been about getting more speed out of the athletes.
Look, the big shoe companies do not employ research teams to design shoes that are going to make you run slower.
There wouldn't be really a lot of point in that.
But the point I make here is that often the engineering that is going into the shoes that are producing better performances are also really well engineered to prevent injuries.
and biomechanically more supportive.
So it's not quite simple.
