Oh, yeah, because the likelihood that they're going to take that guy or even a couple of guys is not good.
And you've built it up in your head.
That this is the guy, and if we get this guy, we're perfect.
And then when it doesn't happen, you're disappointed, right?
Like, don't have those expectations because you're going to fail miserably all the time.
Now, to the fact that we're all surprised speaks to the fact that at least one part of the draft game, Brett Beach can do.
I mean, maybe he needed to go up to get him so you can make a case, well, maybe somebody else was trying to get up.
His explanation in the post-draft press conference was that they really thought New Orleans was the threat.
I mean, what I took away from him was he said, they've lost a corner in each of the last two years.
We really thought that's where we had to get in front of.
And then he mentioned Washington several times and said they weren't going to do anything.
kind of dismissively, almost like he was irritated that he couldn't get to seven.
Like, hey, I offered you something good, and you could have got the guy you got in my spot, and I could have paid a little less, and you'd be better off, you dummy.
That's how I kind of felt like it.
Washington wasn't going to do anything.
It was like the way he said it, I kind of took away.
So that is part of the process, too, is playing the draft board as effectively as you can.
So, look, they put a lot into him.
