Before the season, this is actually previewed as something that's quite exciting, that Don Scott, Malcolm Blight will be on board.

Now, Blight's story is interesting.

He actually was the captain coach of North Melbourne in 1981.

He resigned midway through the year because he said, well, it's too hard to be a captain coach these days.

Wins the Coleman the next year, just because he can.

The next year goes home to South Australia where he captain coaches Woodville and then coaches them.

Now, this is how it all, quite interesting how it all works.

By 1988, he had quit coaching.

His day job has him moving back to Melbourne.

He's the national manager at his day job, so he's moving back to Melbourne.

At the same time, Seven is putting this commentary team together and

they will have a special comments person at every game.

So Blight gets the call and he says, yes, he's in.

And it's, it's almost interesting in, um, he, he, there's commentary where people sort of say to him, now you haven't seen much VFL lately, Blighty.

He goes, yeah, I'm just, just learning some of the players again.

Now, and it randomly, it fits with his job because he has to travel around Australia for work.

So he says, oh, well, I'll, I'll go to Perth on Monday and I'll do the game on Sunday.

And, um,

I chatted to Blighty for this story and he sort of said that 60% of the time he spent on air, he wanted to talk about skills, positioning and all of that sort of thing.
