I actually asked a Spanish referee about this last night.
And I kind of had this little complaint.
I said to him, oh, come on, this should be allowed.
I know the rules say it shouldn't, but this should be allowed.
And I said, you know, otherwise you would lose one of the great.
famous goals in Spanish football history, which is Raul Tamudo did this in a Copa del Rey final.
The goalkeeper had it in his hand, Raul Tamudo sneaked up behind him, headed it out his hand and scored.
And what this former referee said to me was, they changed that rule in Spain precisely because of Raul Tamudo scoring that great goal in the Copa del Rey final.
And of course, that for me was the perfect evidence
that basically referees are looking for a reason to ruin everything.
Right, here you've got this great goal, you've got this wonderful moment, the Winter Cup Final, and the referees sit around and what do they think?
They think, yeah, how can we make this rubbish?
How can we take away this really fun moment?
Listen, I'm 100% in agreement that this shouldn't have counted because those are the rules.
I just kind of wish it could count because it's fun when that happens.
