And he would get up in the morning and hobble around in pain until he had hot tea and then he'd start to go again.
It was a difficult decision.

I heard of a place called a Butler School in London.
Now, I had looked after Rudolph.
I knew him very well, but I knew nothing about wine.
I knew nothing about etiquette.
I knew nothing about fabric care, security, serving dinners, food, silverware, what have you.
So I put this to Rudolph, and he hated the idea.
He said, you don't need that.
You're very good for me.
You do everything that I want you to do.
I don't need any of that.
And I thought, no, it's time for me to increase, you know, perform well myself and increase my knowledge.
It was organised, I think, by Jack Lang, the Minister of Culture, and everybody was there.
But it was on the top floor of one of those beautiful French apartments.
There wasn't an elevator, no lift there.
