They think of her just as if she's another man because she's so brainy.
And it's a real revelation to her when at university, the extremely handsome and lion-like Bill Clinton shows an interest in her.
That's really the first time that a good-looking, very attractive, charismatic man has showed an interest in her.
And that's an absolute eye-opener for her.
I loved the first part of the book.
Call me an old-fashioned romantic, but I loved all the descriptions of them getting to know each other, the flirtation, the banter.
the fabulous sex scenes.
I loved the whole lot.
And I truly hope that it was true.
And I loved that what Bill saw in her was her brains and her intelligence and her drive.
And he loved all of that.
Which really makes me love him, Cassie and Kate.
You know, 50 years ago for a man to be so... A very good-looking man who could have all of the prettiest girls in the room to so determinedly set his cap at a woman who was demonstrably intelligent and ambitious.
I think that makes me think very highly of him.
In fact, this book has made me think, in some ways, the early parts anyway, has made me think more highly of Bill, of course,
it then goes on to portray him in a very unfavourable light.
But at these early stages, when he's smitten with Hilary because of her brains and her personality, I really felt for him.
She realised that he was a womaniser.
So they were involved in a very, very passionate relationship that was a meeting of the minds.
And she thought the spirits and the souls as well, she thought that they couldn't possibly be closer.
