That really stuck with me, those kind of stories.
Ed, I feel like you'll like this answer, but it was just maths and like understanding the maths behind it.
When I remember being at my first job in 2020 and listening to a podcast where they spoke about this concept of FIRE, financial independence, retire early.
And the math behind it was, look, if you figure out how much you need to live off at minimum,
You then kind of work backwards and go, if I draw down 4% or 3% of that money, what is my overall portfolio of income producing assets needing to be?
And once you hit that number, you can, you know, in theory retire.
But I do relate to that nurse because once you get close to that number, you're like, but can I actually, like, can I actually stop?
A lot of that came from building out a few businesses, primarily Friends That Invest was a huge driver of the like earning power that I had.
And I remember when I first started, like I wasn't drawing a salary for the first year.
I mean, there was no money coming in for the first year.
So that was easy.
The next couple of years, I was drawing a little bit.
And then every year when I would draw a salary, I'd just invest it.
And so over six years, that really compounds, not to mention the sort of businesses I would run before that.
And as you guys know, I used to be basically an intern at Opus.
And I would do the social media for you guys.
So I was always like, I like building things and making money.
And I've realized that was a better use of my time than to...
