But the friends that have made money like myself, slowly and not coming from money, I guess what new money would be is what we are.
New money wants to talk about it because we see the benefit of it.
Because if we didn't know
what was possible or how to ask for a pay rise or how to invest or how to like negotiate, we would not have left the circumstances that we came from.
So we see the benefit of it.
And one of the things that Emma said that I really, really, really liked, she was like, when I would go to conferences, she would ask the other speakers, like, how much did you get paid?
And one of the speakers said to her, like, no one has ever asked me that.
And I do the exact same.
Like when I go to a conference with other female speakers, I will ask them, I'll be like, how much did you guys get paid for this?
And more than once, I realized that some of those women were not paid at all.
And then I would be like, well, I got paid like $5,000 or I got paid $10,000.
And so the next time they have the opportunity to go and speak, they know what to ask for.
They can actually like hold their own and have some data to make better financial decisions.
At the end of the day, that is literally all that talking about money gives you.
It just gives you data points.
Now, the fifth takeaway was another old thought versus new thought.
Now, the old thought was that you should be satisfied with what you have.
People have less than you and it's greedy to want more.
And she wanted to replace it with this new thought of you need to think about yourself first because no one else will do it for you.
