no one was really doing facials. They have facials in New York now. There was maybe five iconic facialists, but there was no Globar, there was no Hay Day, there was no Civil Mirror. It really wasn't something people did that much. And I just knew that I wanted to work in that space, so I just started training on the weekends. And I did that while I was a designer.

I started giving my friends facials when I graduated, and then their friends. And after about eight months, I was like, okay, I need to make a choice. Am I a facialist? Am I a fashion designer? So I quit my job and I started working for a dermatologist immediately. And I still work for one and people laugh at that, but like I literally every Wednesday still work for a derm.

That was really important to me because I wanted to learn about problematic skin. I didn't want to just do this relaxing, like sensorial facial that is really lovely, but I wanted to get real results for my clients. And that's kind of it. It's just snowballed since then.

I think people are doing too many actives and what I mean by that is there is a trendy ingredient every week right everyone will be like oh hyaluronic acid is a perfect example or vitamin c or glycolic acid mandelic acid you've got to find the ones that work for you you don't need all of them and so that's the biggest thing I think when I meet a client for the first time and I go through their routine they might have 10 12 actives in their routine without even realizing and

And they're like, oh, well, where does my exfoliation go in? I'm like, babe, you've got it in six places already. So we're good. We're going to take it out actually. So that is interesting. And I think with problematic skin, there's a 360 approach to think about. It's not just the products. It's what you're eating. It's if you're stressed out. It's if you clean your pillowcases enough.

is if you've got like a boyfriend who like doesn't wash his face and you're like sleeping over his house, you know, it's like all these little things. So I would say I'm a bit of a detective and this is why I like to talk, you know, like I'm a gossip because I want to know what else you're doing. Yeah, exactly. I would say, yeah, genuine learner.
