Kyle Reese hears the prophecy, the machines hears the prophecy that this woman, Sarah Connor, is going to have this baby that's going to grow up in the future to destroy them.

So they know that they have to time travel to the past to kill her so that baby will not be born.

Now, Kyle Reese...

He knew he had to time travel to save her, keep them from killing her.

So they both time traveled, the AI, the machine, the Terminator, and Kyle Reese, and they both land naked without shame.

Well, the machine has no shame, so what does he do?

He's still walking around naked until someone tells him to put some clothes on.

Well, Kyle Reese being a living being, he knows that he has to go put on some clothes, and that's what he does.
