in those stories um and it and you're right it can be invigorating to um read a murder mystery you know that's that's kind of a very familiar plot but set in a totally different milieu than we got in the 20th century when everything was you know set in a different antagonist and a different protagonist and all those things and and and gender diversity and different different different um familiar characters but different backgrounds

Ja, ich meine, für mich ist das sehr spannend und cool, aber es spricht nicht zu einer super robusten Zukunft für das Medium, wenn wir nicht auch über formelle Innovation sprechen. Weißt du, jemand wie Toni Morrison kam heran und sie, weißt du, sie war wichtig, weil sie eine schwarze, männliche Schriftstellerin war, aber auch, weil sie so eine formelle, innovativen, distinktive Stimme war.

modern fiction right now is that there's not as much of a detention to voice there's kind of a kind of cold modernist way of writing and that is being used to um render these different stories now all this said i'm not a book critic so i can't no i hear you but but but like you know is literature and one of you know are we in one of those periods where everybody says everybody the writing sucks and i don't think we're in one of those periods
