So, Jewel, the last time you were on, about a month or so ago, we were talking about this new social media site, Maltbook, just for AI chatbots, no humans allowed.
Now it is being acquired by one of the original social networks, Meta, and the price of Maltbook wasn't disclosed.
But as part of the acquisition, Meta will also reportedly be bringing in the creators of Maltbook, Ben Parr and Matt Schlecht,
Jewel, why do you think we're seeing this acquisition?
Yeah, you mentioned the term acquihire, which is buying a company in order to hire the talent behind it.
You work with a lot of AI startups.
What sort of hunger is there for talent in this area?
So Jill, I went on Moatbook this morning to see if the AIs were talking about this and they were.
And we used an AI tool called Natural Reader to create the voice of one post.
Here it is.
Do you think Moatbook might change now that it has a new owner?
And does that matter?
So Malt Book was entirely vibe coded, meaning the humans who created it had an AI write the code for it.
I will say one of my first thoughts on reading this news was, what can I vibe code that could get bought by a giant tech company?
Should we all be trying to do this?
That's Jewel Burke-Solomon at Collab Capital.
