Yeah, you were the first to report on this ultimatum.
You heard from one defense official who said, quote, the only reason we're still talking to these people is we need them and we need them now.
How does the Pentagon already rely on anthropics tech?
Do you have a sense of what giving the DOD unfettered access to Claude would mean?
How much does Anthropic need both the money in this contract specifically and the military as a client generally?
So what other AI companies are competing with Anthropic to fill this space?
We'll be right back.
You're listening to Marketplace Tech.
I'm Stephanie Hughes.
We're back with Maria Curie, tech policy reporter at Axios.
Actually, we're going to transition to talking about OpenAI.
So OpenAI and major consulting firms enter, quote, a new frontier.
Earlier this month, OpenAI launched Frontier.
It's a platform for businesses to build and manage AI coworkers.
But to really get these new AI coworkers in the mix, companies have to both change their workflows and also get their human employees on board.
To help with this, OpenAI said this week it's going to be working with four big consulting firms.
Maria, is the idea here the consultants know how different businesses work and they'll be able just to suggest places where the AIs can be plugged in?
We've just been talking about the importance of the military as a customer for these AI companies.
Does this partnership get at how big a deal the corporate sector is for them as well?
As you mentioned, the consulting companies have kind of embraced AI themselves.
