Martin, starring Peter Claffey as Dunk and Dexter Sol Anzel as Egg.

The pilot episode, The Hedge Knight, is directed by Owen Harris and written by Parker.

Our hero, Duncan, is dealing with the aftermath of the death of his master, the hedge knight Sir Arlen of Pennytree.

Duncan, aka Dunk, inherits Sir Arlen's sword and shield and decides to enter a tournament at Ashford Meadow to prove his mettle as a knight.

On his way to Ashford, though, Dunk meets a bald-headed boy named Egg who dreams of being his squire and trained in the ways of knighthood.

Dunk leaves Egg behind, but his journey is nearly cut short in Ashford when he realizes he needs another lord to vouch for him as a knight.

Dunk spends the rest of the episode trying to convince Sir Manfred to bolster his claim.

Eventually, Dunk ends up at Sir Lionel Baratheon's tent, aka the Laughing Storm.

Sir Lionel and Dunk bond, with the Baratheon encouraging the knight to stand tall.
