um abby i keep calling abby ellie and dean in a new place they're looking at amongst this place you see the ruins of the society and civilization that once was um you see this huge threat and you also have some mystery because you're wondering who killed these seraphites so the show got to a point to where this was really a new pilot yeah this was a second pilot episode you could argue that the first two episodes of the season were a continuation of the last season

It's a delicate dance to make people care about Joel's death, but also... be connected to the show in his absence.
