You're talking about a big change in approach there.
And I think it would have to be something that happened over a long period of time.
And it's become a very different tactical game now, hasn't it, with the number of substitutes that are allowed to be brought on and how many times you can stop the game to make the changes.
You very rarely now see a team only making changes because of injuries.
Almost every game, a team will make three to five...
changes and most of them will be tactical fresh legs yeah and that does I suppose that in a way gives managers an excuse to say as you say you might say to three of your players right you won't have to play 90 minutes so go and give it your all
Go and wear yourself out after 60 or 70 minutes and we'll bring you off.
And maybe there is a link there between that sort of expectation on players and the frequency with which they're picking up injuries.
Yes, it's not an easy answer.
It would be interesting to have John Massino and his coaching staff on, wouldn't it, and hear...
and hear their thoughts on that he has said hasn't he you know that football today is partly responsible the way football is is partly responsible for the number of injuries we're getting I don't think he's I don't think anyone has tried to sort of deny that but it's just the extent to which that is the case okay well done that was another tricky one I had to ask you and very grateful for an excellent answer as ever thank you
I might do, you having put that thought to my head.
But about two hours after we spoke last week, I was at the radio on in the car and the best news of the week arrived in the form of Leicester getting a six-point deduction.
And I'm not just saying that because I don't like Leicester.
I mean, I do remember, like some, I've got a long memory.
We all remember 1993 when they finished way below us in the league table.
We could barely see them from the lofty position we were in.
And then we played them in the playoffs.
